Magpas Quizzes

I am really debating about the subject of making the quizzes available via email. Its really the first time I have done this and tho it saves me a lot of paper and time, I have found that of all the email requests, I have not even received a quarter of them back. So, I am not really sure its worthwhile. I wonder how many people ask for an email copy and use it as a free quiz, never intending to send it in and pay the charity its money.....or is thatjust me being sceptical? How have other setters found this???

I too was worried how many I would actually have returned from those I sent out by e mail but the response was very positive with about 80% being returned. I have decided to make my new quiz "A Night at the Movies" available by e mail too. Hope this helps.
One way around this is to open a paypal account and sell via paypal. You get the money up front before the quiz is sent as an attachment. It can also be returned the same way. I usually sell about 60% of the total of Buxton Mountain Rescue quizzes that way. It costs a little more to buy but is far less than the postage that would be required. Another way is through 'Just Giving' but I am not sure how that is set up although I have purchased quizzes that way.
My quizzes go out by email to those on my group email list marked "to pay", but I also send out a copy to everyone who has included a SAE with their previous entry. I only get a couple of dozen new quizzers each time now. I am a bit reluctant to send an emailed copy "to pay" to everyone else who may request it, for the reasons you have stated.
I did receive an email from one guy who said he had enjoyed my quiz and could he have some older ones so he could get into my mind set, which I was pleased to post out to him free of charge. I didn't even get a thank you from him, never mind about a donation, so I won't be doing that again!

Out of interest, have you got any stats for the paid quizzes you don't get back?
I set quizzes and send out by email and get about 80 - 85% of them back. No problem to me if they aren't returned.
Like margaretrae I only get quizzes which I can get on line or by email
Keep on making available by email - it'll work out in the end

Thanks all for your comments. I am not awfully good with the PC!! so not sure what is involved in setting up paypal, but sounds like a good idea. Might get my kids on t it.
There are far more of the postal paid ones returned. probably nearer 60%, but again if they are paid for its up to the individual then.
I agree the quiz has been spoiled on here but without dragging it all up again, really dont see a solution, apart from the 'no asking' policy.
Anyway will give it another go and see what happens I suppose.
I wouldnt fancy the answers being sent back via email, seems a lot harder work marking them, but i expect it may come to thast if postage costs keep increasing. i do try to keep cost down by offering to send out a follow on back with their marked sheet, but quite a lot dont take up the offer.

I don't set quizzes but I do enjoy doing them! I've recently become a pensioner and can't afford all the postage costs of stamps going to and fro, so I appreciate the e-mail option. I can't remember not sending a sheet back. I used to pay for Richard's by Just Giving, though it took me a while to work out how to do it. I've also paid for one quiz by Paypal, but I'm not very computer literate and did struggle. I also don't really understand how that works.
I have added my twopenn'th before that I think a few people give up on their own research for answers too soon and ask for help, which I know does put some people off returning their sheets. It's great fun, looking for the answers and the excitement when I crack a hard question is well worth the effort, but that's just me - a lady who enjoys simple pleasures.
Please carry on sending quizzes out by e-mail - I don't send for any others now and I enjoy them so much.
