Suggestions For Lake Activity.......
My friend's grandparents are coming to England next week. They are Polish. I went to Poland last year and was treated royally by them. They had a summer cottage, not far from a lake, which had plenty of boating activity and surrounding activities. I'd like to take them to a similar place, where we can also rent a cottage or get B&B etc. Can anyone suggest somewhere that fits the bill?

The Lake District is the obvious one though will be quite touristy in the summer (and technically only actually one official lake!). But restricted on some watersports though you can take rowing boats out and such.
Lake Bala is a possible in Wales and you could do trips round Snowdonia which is stunning! You can get a train up and down too should you want to go up Snowdon itself. Lots of watersports available there.
Otherwise, head for a loch in Scotland maybe?

Does it have to be a lake? What about a nice tranquil river?
Being in East Anglia, my mind turns to the Norfolk Broads and, in particular, to Wroxham:

That's a commercial website but it gives you a feel for the place, together with some useful links.
