Methyl I know about the thread as I wrote it and put the link in my opening question here.
I had put it in Technology but hadn't looked properly so didn't realise it was more suited to Computers.
I hoped here it might get further answers to help me.
I am using Vista and AVG Anti Virus
Wildwood, I can't get to see any information because the screen is frozen as soon as it opens.
Tis a booger, so frustrating.

Do you have a disc for Microsoft Works? or an installer package (download)?
Your program has obviously stopped responding, possibly due to a corrupted file. You can safely reinstall the program without it effecting any of the documents you have already created. If all else fails you could download Open Office which is a freeware program, it is compatible with Microsoft Office but i'm not sure if it is with Works.
