4. I expect the answer you are looking for is 600 .... from Tennyson's poem about Balaclava, 'The Charge of the Light Brigade' .....'into the valley of death rode the six hundred'. BUT about 156 men were killed immediately as a result of the Charge, & many more died later from their wounds.
