1. At right- angles to header (9 letters)

My best guess would be Parachute. ???

right angles = R A
a header in football = Shoot

Yes I had thought of all the 9 letter ways of transport I could think of, and parachute was on the list but I can't quite reason why it is correct. Funicular was also on the list, perhaps some reference to perpendicular i.e. right angle clue?
If nobody else comes up with a better answer or explanation, I will go,with your answer. Thanks for your help Thewinner

Seeing as we haven't had much interaction on AB, please know that my user name is because I won £10 when I entered the local newspapers crossword.
