Almost missed my appointment with you all this evening.
This is week four of five so you still have time to catch up but of course you have to be in it to win it (as the saying goes).
First to launch early on a Saturday morning in Q&P is the KM Links game managed from Australia by Seekeerz. That is based on the Daily Telegraph GK Crosswords (set by Kate Mepham, hence 'KM'). Play anytime before midnight on Sunday for an equal chance of points.
Points awarded in that game are 1, 3, 6 or 10 points for 1, 2, 3 or 4 correct matches respectively.
Our own version of the game is the MM Links Game which is being set this month my 'Manx Queenie' (aka Manxiemo). That has an introduction posted at 8:45 and the challenge itself at 9am. This game closes at 7pm Sunday.
Scoring is a little different in this one.
Every correct match scores 1 point.
The first person to guess each link scores a bonus point, as does anyone else who is also correct within two minutes of that first discovery. That means each link has its own 2-minute window of opportunity for a bonus. Early play is therefore advised.
Additionally, 2 bonus points are on offer to anyone managing a clean sweep of all 4 links.
We have had a couple of good weeks (points-wise) from Manx Queenie but can she keep it up? Find out tomorrow in Q&P.
The rest of this thread is now open for socialising.
Thank you, gen2
Sadly (from my point of view) I will be unavailable to gain any bonus points (if I were to be so lucky!) on any correct guesses as I have to be at a meeting, some 50+miles away, at 9.30 a.m. tomorrow morning and will not be back near a computer/wifi hotspot etc until about 2 p.m.
But good luck to all the others.
I'm back to normal (or what passes for normal in the tearinghair house) as son and family have returned to the USA after two lovely weeks staying with us. It's horribly quiet everywhere (and we're unlikely to see them again, over here at least, for some time), but we have new memories and new photos to keep us going. Thank goodness for Skype! The cats are relieved, though...
I don't expect you'll be back on here tonight, Strix, but just in case ... We'll have none of that defeatist talk. You could well be the first to guess one of the links later on in the competition. It's not unknown.
On another tack, I was horrified to realise that I knew what ITMA stands for, but then again so do you, Gen2
I certainly am, Christiana. Will try to go over to see them next year, but it gets a bit complicated so for the moment I'm not making definite planes. Filling the time with quizzes, crosswords and gardening helps a bit, until normal routine is restored (and until we've eaten all the spare chicken nuggets and fish fingers!)
