Not so much as a question, but Happy Birthday to Harry Corbett's Sooty who is 65 today. It would be four years from Sooty's "discovery" before he was first seen on TV in a talent contest (the X Factor of its day).
I'm sure most of us have enjoyed Sooty at some time during our childhoods!
Amazing that something as simple as Sooty and co. entertained children for years and years and remained popular whilst more sophisticated programmes ran out of steam.
To answer some of your questions, Sweep came along in 1957 and Sue in 1964. The 1960s also saw the introduction of Butch the dog, Kipper the cat, Ramsbottom the snake and Enry the robot.
