My weight then was 13st 8lbs. Today on the scales I weighed in at
13st 5 1/2lbs. Will I continue to lose weight at the same rate if I stick with this surprisingly easy diet?

you surely will for a while sandy, they're just rubbish you don't need - heed the wisdom of St Martha, patron saint of dieticians oi, lardy, eat a bit less, do a bit more :x)

Hi Sandy, a couple of years ago, I gave up ALL wheat products for a month and lost a stone in that month. Mind you, at the end of the month I was climbing walls just CRAVING bread. Yes, if you continue to leave out all wheat products, you will continue to lose weight. Cut out carbs and eat only proteins. It's boring as h*** BUT it does work. Good luck xx
The weight loss on the first week of a new diet of often high (sometimes 3 or 4 pounds or more) but this is not a proper weight loss. It can often be as simple as just less food in your body so it weighs less.
This is why comments like "I lost 5 pounds on my first week of a diet" should be taken with a pinch a salt.
Once a diet has settled down I would not expect to lose more than 1 pound or 2 pound a week, and don't get depressed if one week you lost nothing.
Weight can take months and years to put on so we should all allow months or years to lose it. There is no "quick fix" in weight loss.
I got some spam email the other day about a "miracle diet" where it said you could lose 11-15 pounds a week. What a stupid claim.
There is no miracle diet, it is all about sensible eating over long period of time.

Yes you will. Simple rules like this work effectively because it doesn't feel like a burden. Equally, can you replace a commute you'd do in the car with one on a bike? Might help keep the speed of reduction up.
Changing a habit that happens to be positive for weight loss is better than trying to lose weight in particular.
How tall are you Sandy? 6-something if I remember right? If so Umm is right, you're not too bad.

I took the 7lbs I lost in the first week with a tiny bit of salt ;-)
However, the first week is always the best one, after that it should slow down to 2 - 3 lbs a week
Now into the last half stone to reach 5 stone loss. then 2 more to go. Sensible eating using SW - Tikka masala marinating in my fridge now for tonghts dinner. Totally free food

Was this down to the cutting out of a particular set of foodstuffs or was it mainly down to taking in fewer calories anyway ? Was this during a period of attempting to lose weight, or was this the first thing tried ?
Weight rarely continues to reduce at the rate experienced at the start but reducing or cutting out high fat/calorie foods is often a good way to reduce overall intake.
If you are at ease with cutting biscuits & cake out altogether as a permanent thing then fine. I'd have difficulty with it since when hungry little achieves the same satisfaction for me than bread or similar whilst I wait for a meal to be ready. I really don't believe I could accept cutting that lot out as a permanent change.
