Welcome to Nungate Towers for the latest meeting of AB's Mad Over Fifties Club.
After a very busy afternoon, we finally managed to get things ready in time.
Tonight's Tailcock is the "Clasico" (Barcelona 2, Real Madrid 1 whoop, whoop!) Colour me happy!
For tonight's Hot Plate Special we have chicken in a hot spicy tomato sauce. served on a bed of rice and on the pudding trolley there is a delicious sticky toffee pudding, served with custard or whipped cream (yum!)
Members will be pleased to know that our Igor has left the wheelchair behind him and now has a walking plaster and a crutch (alas he is still not permitted to wear his chains)
The hot tub is bubbling away on the north tower, the bungee is ready for bouncing (though I advise anyone using it to try to avoid the moat on the downward journey - the piranhas do bite!) Down in the dungeons, the indoor pool has had the heating turned up a little and there is a nice selection of cossies available for any member who didn't bring their own.
The Minstrels are in the gallery tuning up their usual selection of madrigals and fugues. Down in the grand ballroom, our favourite local band The Tone Deafs, is also warming up, tonight they have promised to play a selection of '60's classics.
There are roaring fires in the snug and also in the library, where members will find in addition to our vast collection of leather bound tomes, a good selection of magazines and periodicals, including the latest edition of The Arc Welder's Weekly Almanack.
For tonight's rofl, I offer
Best Beloved (he knows what he has done)
One bottle of frozen diet coke
Lady of Burlesque dvd (Barbara Stanwyck good film) faulty!
2 clips from a Beko dishwasher - broken
(been a heck of a week!)

A warm welcome awaits all who dare enter these portals

Nanny is on her way, she'll tend to you Anne, she's very good. If you'd like there's a chaise longue in the Ladies Retiring Room, or you could have a guest suite in the West Tower
In my day flounces were on Rah Rah skirts. More's the pity. Devious is better than stroppy!
Oh gawd, devious women !.
Question Author
feeling outnumbered Tony?
I see Villa may have found a new fan Tony? Can I have Plant fetch you another bucket?
ive been locked in the ladies room all this time, did no one hear me shouting ? I had to climb out the window, did a bungee jump, no harness, now my 'cut and set' is all messed up , and ive lost my hush puppy :(
Lost you! Had to put you in Search. Think Tony's adage is the more the merrier.
Quiet tonight nungate, a good time to recommend a book just read?
The Sandalwood Tree, by Elle Newmark. About India just before partition and two generations before that.

It worked! I've never done a link before, am I a clever girl?
Anne, I ended up in the moat! Those piranhas do tickle.
What are the Tone Deafs playing now? Danceable?
no only kidding mum :)
Question Author
Oh my, Anne, not to worry Belle will restore you "do" I hope the piranha didn't get a nibble.

Sounds intriguing Daisy, will look out for that. I just read a downloaded sample of a book called Longbourne, it's about the staff at the house where the Bennetts of Pride and Prejudice lived I think I may download the book it caught my interest. It's written by Jo Baker. Just read another Lord Peter Wimsey the other day (that was a re read) and the latest MC Beaton Agatha Raisin book, Something Borrowed, Something Dead - funny and a nice little mystery! I came across the Agatha Raisin books by chance, when I was in Waterstones and I spotted a book with the title Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death - well it got my attention, and I have every one of these books in my collection (several on the kindle running out of shelf space)
Very clever nungate. Wish I could do it.
Always thought Junior was exceedingly demeaning. Best of luck to him.
does that include the one on my chest of drawers that has sat there since New Year and I still haven't read it yet

Didn't tickle me, Daisy ! nungate can I borrow the tweezers again, got some of those piranha teeth stuck in my derriere again.

And yes I do feel out numbered, nungate.

Just checked out that book on Amazon, it's available for kindle and it has great reviews! I shall add it to my list (I'm only allowed one per week and only if I don't buy any dvd's - I bought a dvd, came today and it is faulty and has to go back - only cost me £1.99 from Amazon but they don't do replacements but I found one from an Amazon seller for the princely sum of 11p! So I ordered that! Mad impetuous fool that I am
