Blackhorse Ppi Claim, They Have Rejected My Claim?
27 Answers
hi, i claimed ppi from blackhorse in february this year and after many many letters sent to them, they even lost the bank statements requested twice, finally they let me know that i dont have any ppi on this account because if i had ppi, a separate payment would have been taken from my account every month, eventhough on the agreement copy it is shown that one payment would be taken monthly and the ppi amount is stated included in that monthly direct debit.
they have sent me a good will gesture cheque of 25 quid.
what shall i do, i think they are not fair, i had another ppi claim with another company and it was settled quickly, they never said i should have had seperate direct debit amount for the ppi taken from me every month?
shall i write to blackhorse and ask to reconsider and dont cash the cheque or write to FOS? thanks in advance.

It will take a long time for them to look at your claim but hey, it's not a fortune you are turning down. Black horse must have Something that needs to be looked at for them to offer the measily £25.

keep going....barclays lied to me and my hubby twice about ppi payments, so we pursued the claim with the ombudsman in the end. if you have a clear reason for the ppi to be invalid (i.e. ours was missold due to a pre-existing medical condition) then i would suggest you fight the good fight!!! good luck x
If the response was a final response and gave you FOS referral then you can go to Fos. If the letter didn't give you Fos referral rights write and ask Blackhorse to issue you afinal response returning your cheque at the same time. If you were given Fos referral rights you can go directly to FOS but you must contact them even if its only by phone within six months of the final response or it will probably be considered to be out of time.
i dont think their response was a final response, im trying to find the letter they sent me, was so angry when read it, tossed it somewhere. it is just the way the handled my claim, asked for evidence like bank statements and lost them twice! and lost in their company, had the envelope but not the contents! i will think about writing them for last time or going straight to fos. thanks again for all replies.
I understood that they do care care whether you go to FOS, chrissa- I may be wrong but I thought that if the matter goes to FOS the company has to pay a fee to FOS of a few hundred pounds. I also understood that they have to pay interest at the statutory rate of 8% (simple interest?) so again it's in their interests not to delay payment
I have to say that this example is one reason why I used a claims agency to reclaim my PPI - they helped me at every step of the way, and gave me all the necessary forms etc. The only one I've not been successful in reclaiming my PPI was my Tesco credit card (underwritten by RBS) - that went twice to the Ombudsman and they still threw it out. No further redress available, they tell me.
I know I had to pay them for doing it, but for me it was well worth it.

I would never ever use a 3rd part claims company - I have had dealings with them on a professsional basis and what they do for you you could do quite easily yourself and for no charge. All they are doing is rehashing the infromation that you provide to complete the forms. If you can't remember somthing you have the option to tick the box to say so and it is up to the bank or building society to examine your file to find the information. You may think that they back up their findings to FOS's satisfaction Claims are not dealt with any differently just because they are submitted by a claims company It means that it costs you nothing and if you are successful you get to keep all of the money.
However if you feel better doing it that way boxtops it's your peace of mind

Photo copy their cheque and send it back MK, advise them that they lost the statements so it's them that have lost your evidence, do not let them fob you off, you can DIY you do not need any 3rd party, I have twice fought for mine & succeeded, contact their Head Office & advise if these statements are not returned you will be taking legal advice, make a point of getting the persons name, dept, & Extension Number.
