Ids Changing His Mind Again !

It seems that the 2017 deadline for the Universal Credit completion may not now be achievable, despite him telling the Commons Work and Pensions Select Committee as recently as July that it was on target.

Can Dave really not find someone else to do IDS's job ?

hes not changing his mind is he.... its still going ahead but just not as per the timetable

Well baz, he seems to have changed his position at least since July. The Labour shadow works and pensions minister said today ::

"On the morning of the Autumn Statement this is yet another shambolic announcement from this out-of-touch Government. Iain Duncan Smith has today admitted what everyone has known for months - that Universal Credit is massively behind schedule. But just a couple of weeks ago he was telling Parliament the Government would 'roll out Universal Credit on the plan and programme already set out'."

In a more neutral role, the National Audit Office said earlier this year that :::

"Universal Credit had been badly managed, was "overambitious" and provided poor value for money"

I think that its high time that Dave got rid of one of his biggest liabilities, and sent IDS to the back benches.

IDS has a job as a sop to the right wing of the Conservative Party who seem to like him. If he was a back bencher he could make Cameron's job of trying to unite the party considerably more difficult. Keep your enemies close is the reason this failure continues to be employed.

Well if he's winding the like of you up Mickey then he is doing his job isn't he. Your left wing views are not shared by a lot of people so its unlikley he will be sacked because you think so.

And anyway, is this not yet another failure of civil servants, many of whom are left wing and probably trying to sabotage it?

he isn't changing his mind, and going on the massive complexity of the welfare state i am amazed it would be brought in then.

its too complex a system, with far too many disparate groups in DWP, many of who don't marry up, are not on the same systems. If you look at the list of benefits that are available i am amazed that so many are available. I clocked a list half a wall wide of available benefits in the CAB and was gob smacked.
