Music Used In Short Tesco Tv Ad - Electro-Pop Instrumental
9 Answers
I've a feeling I should know what this music is, but for the life of me, I can't uncover it!
Tesco have for several months been running a series of brief adverts - about 10-15 seconds - of a generic, non-moving screen with the product they're promoting, with a short piece of music accompanying it. The one I'm trying to identify is an electro-pop instrumental break which sounds like it's a non-vocal section of an old 80s electro-pop single which, even with my extensive knowledge of music, I simply cannot bring to mind. It's driving me ...kin' mad!!
The promo blurb for this ad, which I saw again a couple of days ago, ran something like '5p off per litre if you spend £50 or more' (as I wasn't particularly paying attention, the 'per litre' could have been referring to alcohol or petrol).
Anybody know what it is? Please help save my sanity!! Thanks.

OILhead: No - it's a harder-edged piece than that.
tiggerblue10: Tried that site before - there is a similar ad shown, which has music by Newton Faulkner, but it's not that one, and the one I'm looking for isn't on there.

Ahhh great, thanks Stephen_G! It's not quite the answer I was expecting, as I was imagining it as a clip from an old hit single. This explains why I couldn't actually identify it: I never watched Knight Rider, so the theme tune wasn't known to me. I actually heard it again on Friday night, during the ad break at 23:49 on More4 in the film Watchmen, and came here to post this information so that anyone so minded (and with time to spare - you can't scroll through the adverts, you just have to sit them out!) could go to Channel 4's 4oD service and hear it for themselves. But now I don't need to do that... though I just have...
One thing has struck me on listening to it again on your YT video link: I now realise that it sounds less like the bands I expected, and more like a cross between Gary Numan and Hot Chip. Niiice!! ATB for '14.
