Good evening and welcome to Nungate Towers and the latest meeting of the Mad Over Fifties Club.
Igor is in the entrance hall, waiting to collect coats, cloaks and broomsticks, for concealment around various crooks and nannies in the Towers, however whether the aforementioned garments ever see the light of day again purely down to chance
Our Tailcock for tonight is the "Jolly Zookeeper" an interesting brew, lovely aroma ............................
Our hot plate special tonight is a step away from our normal fare, we have kangaroo steaks, and other "exotic meats" Of course, just in case the "special" is not to everyone's taste we will have an alternative available
when we decide what it is we'll let members know. On the pudding trolley there is a tropical fruit pavlova with lots of whipped cream (no bananas) and of course it would not be a proper meeting of MOFC without our world famous (well in the AB world that is) volly vonts, canopies, and horses doovers.....
Up in the Great Hall Gallery the minstrels are warming up readying themselves to give us a selection of Madrigals and toccattas (yet again....)
and in the ballroom, we have engaged the services of that well known local band the Tone Deafs to play for those wishing to dance or simply shuffle around the floor! (will members please remember to remain vertical at all times during the dancing) As an extra treat tonight we have "acquired" some penguins who will be on parade later this evening, we also have a juggling polar bear and tap dancing giraffe (I do hope he doesn't fall in to the sink!!!)
As always we have a fabulous choice of activities and games for our members, the indoor pool is lovely and warm(ish) and ready for those wishing a swim. The hot tub is still in the dungeons keeping company with the indoor pool, as is the mini bar! The library is fully stocked and we have just received the latest edition of Home and Quantum Physics monthly, I'm told it's a very interesting read .....
Members will be aware of all the facilities available at the Towers for their use and enjoyment, I would however like to reiterate that members must not feed the Triffid in the conservatory and must deposit all litter in the bins provided and not toss it in the moat, as it gives the piranhas indigestion, we had to call the ickthyological vet out this week as some of our fish had developed a severe case of the "upset Tummies" and we had to empty the moat and refill it (we have the scars to prove it!!)
Members wishing to stay overnight are requested to make their wishes known to Belle in the vestibule who will arrange a guest suite for them in the West Wing.
A warm welcome awaits all who dare enter these portals
Evening your nungateship, gawd what a journey I've had to get to the towers tonight, the wind as ripped the spinnaker straight of my skateboard on the M6 just south of Manchester ( good job I had my baggies on ).
Can't wait to see the performing animals, I'd have bought my pet skunk with me if I'd have know'n ( his party trick is that he can clear a room in 2 seconds flat ! ).
Anyhoo, for the riffle I have with me one tow bar ( suitable for a 1973 Datsun 180B ) 1/2 an ounce of Old Holborn ( gone dry ) and a Blow lamp ( run out of puff ).
Good evening Sibs, please let Igor look after your wet things. Queenie won't be around tonight, she's out with her beau this evening, all in all she's had a busy day! They went to the zoo, and brought me back a few "things" then she went out again ..... I think she just popped in to check on the cats and fix me something for dinner
Sorry, Tony, didn't spot you lurking there, there's nothing worse than trouble with your spinnaker, still you made it. Glad to say the wind has dropped here and it's been relatively dry, I think haven't set foot across the threshold at all today. Your usual? I'll send for Igor
Evening nungate. Hope all is well. Eric is feeling a little fragile tonight which is why we are late. I really didn't twig. Poor thing got soaked yesterday and then went out owl hunting. He thinks we need a twit to get other fliers out of our way. Saving the Blues and Twos for his birthday.
Good evening tony sir, amd Madame Sibs, Lovely to see you again, I have your usual buckets, have you noticed that Madame has had them engraved with your names?
Oh, dear, Poor Eric, do you think he'd like a hot toddy? Owl hunting isn't for cissies is it? I think we should settle him in the snug, Teddy is in there watching something on tv, they should be fine in there
Yes, my usual bucket, please.
What did Queenie fix for your dinner, nungate ?, I had a Singapore chow mein earlier, gawd, my mouth is still burning.
Evening, Daisy, new phone sorted ?.
Good evening, Igor, and thanks just what I need after my very hot chow mien from earlier. The engraving is very neat, love the copper plate script, thanks nungate.
Oh we went Spanish tonight - Chicken with patatas bravas, and some empenadas all courtesy of M&S - we don't cook on Saturdays, it's the night when we either do takeout or we buy a ready meal. That Singapore dish sound like it was very hot - the patatas bravas are just spicy enough for me, doubt I'd enjoy anything spicier
Madame selected that script herself you know Tony, sir.
Madame Daisy, I have taken the trouble to mix a little hot toddy for Eric and taken it to him in the snug, and settled him nicely on the sofa with a snuggly wrap he should be fine in there
Good idea nungate. They seem to get on well. Hope there isn't a re-run of the footie on telly. Afraid Eric supports Arsenal. Something to do with the club name and their manager. Eric loves to play with words.
Rifle prizes books tonight : Crosswords for beginners, Cockney rhyming slang for tots, How to survive the government.
I'm glad Queenie's enjoying herself, I have high hopes for this beau as long as she is happy. Thank you Igor that robe is lovely as is the 'bucket'. Good evening Daisy and Tony
Oh Eric, pobrecito! I'm afraid Arsene did not have a good 1000th game did he? I think Eric and I would get along famously I love to play with words myself, particularly in song lyrics and poetry
