Sunday Times Four Seasons Gk Puzzle

Perhaps I am being a bit thick here but there was a large GK puzzle in the News Review section yesterday, plus a spiral crossword, but the instructions were a little vague as to how to enter. There are prizes of 10 Nexus tablets.

Which of these two puzzles do we have to complete for 4 weeks to enter ?
I get the impression that it is the spiral one but if that is so, why does the Four Seasons one say "Crossword 1" ?

If it is the spiral one, how do we put the answers in ? For instance, the second clue is ....___ Cap, northern English comic-strip hero (4) This is obviously ANDY, but where does it go ?

All this may be obvious to everybody else but not me !

Mikey - no, I don't think it's too obvious either! I've just picked up the Sunday Times as were were out yesterday.
I think we have to fill in the 'spiral crossword' and the grey squares will reveal a weapon. I think you start at the top left, then just work your way round the spiral. So, the first 4 letters will be the answer to the 'canal' question, then 'Andy' will go in the next 4 spaces, and so on, until you come to the middle.
I was doing the usual Cryptic one, but I'll have a look at this one now!
But, yes, a huge heading for the General Knowledge crossword, but it's the spiral one that we will need to win the tablet!
And maybe we can work out the 'weapon' without knowing all the answers!
Good luck!

Thank god you responded muzz ! I thought everybody was asleep !

The paper is very badly laid out. I too think it is the spiral one that will win the tablet computer. But I am far from being 100% sure, as the instructions were printed alongside the 4 seasons. But why is the 4 seasons marked Crossword 1 ?

Muzz...it appears to be knuckle duster. Do you think we have to hang on the paper copy of this weeks spiral ?
I am still working on it! I put my wee lines in, then numbered everything, and now working out the answers! (and trying to work out which ones I don't need to bother with!)(e.g. the style of hit in tennis).
But I can see the 'word' without completing all the answers (whew!)
I'm going to keep a hold of the whole page (but I'll probably forget where I've put it!). I haven't done the General Knowledge crossword (yet!). But I think it IS just the 'murder mystery puzzle' answers that we need to remember.
But it is all very vague!
I think there will be a few questions on here in 4 weeks' time!
I think I'll go and look at the Where Was I? now.
