My boiler (ferroli combi) packed in on Friday. I went away for the weekend & got a phone call from a neighbour saying the burglar alarm had been activated. Got it sorted out...the main trip switch had tripped. Got back home last night & the boiler was working again. I turned the power off to the boiler as a part of my investigations on Friday....Any ideas?

Similar with my pc...was dead as a doornail...was away for a couple of days...had been a power cut and upon it being restored pc was running again !!
Could be anything, Crusty. Perhaps a spike in the mains; maybe the circuit board is on the way out. Only time will tell though.

Ferroli boilers are not, I'm afraid, very well regarded.

To quote Professor Sqad ........... monitor the situation :o)
If you had a thunder and lightening storm it may have been that what caused it.
Thunder and lightening storm here in the West Mids Saturday morning, lights in the house flashed off then back on and burglar alarms going off all over the neighbourhood.

Thank you for your answers. We're due for a new boiler anyway & the ferroli is a pile of sh1te. Luckily all of the major parts have been replaced on the British gas service contract, so it doesn't owe me owt.
