...Since 1930 there have been 41 captains of which 32 were batsmen 3 were bowlers and 6 were all rounders, although 2 of them may well be regarded more bat than all rounder, Ray Illingworth and Tony Grieg. Only 1 out and out bowler as captain in the last 40 years was Bob Willis.
I wonder if in anyone's opinion there has been any historical or indeed current reasons for this very one sided set of statistics.

I think the idea might be that bowlers and wicket keepers may be too busy working at their own trade while fielding; the rest may be freer to consider where fielders should be and the overall strategies of what the team should be doing.
