I can't find the thread that has undoubtedly already been started. Can anyone tell me that this is worth persevering with and has a PDM that suddenly makes things clear? At the moment I am finding this quite tedious and am ready to throw in the towel.

PDMs are possible at various stages of completion. Indeed it's quite possible to guess at the form of most of the final grid with just a smattering of answers and the digits the various clashes encode to, and work around that to produce the required "(roundly) accurate statement". Not the intended route, I'm sure. Anyway, depends on how far along in the solve you are at the moment. I'd say it's worth persevering.

Thank you jim360, I think the garden and sunshine beckon today. I'll maybe take another look if/when it rains. I can't share the enthusiasm of others for this puzzle. Some of the clues are very easy but I must be compass-challenged as I find filling the grid a nightmare.
