My car is 6 years old in 2 weeks. Booked it in for it's annual service and MOT. The main dealer often rings about a trade in but I'm happy as, other than normal costs the car has not given me a moments trouble.

Today in a queue a couple were arguing about her next car. He wanted her to buy a Corsa. She said it was an old woman's car. I'm gutted, is that what people think. Maybe I will go for a trade. So is it an old woman's car.

My daughters 21 year old boyfriend bought one brand new about 6 weeks ago, Jeza. A bright Red one.
I quite like them, mind you I'm an old git. Considered them but I cannot get my fishing gear in it.

If you like it, stick with it and ignore everyone else. We cannot all afford a Bentley Continental.

They don't look like an old woman's car Tony. Mine looks the same though not red.
Before I bought it I went to test drive a Peugot 206 cabriolet. I loved the way the car looked especially with the roof down. The guy threw the keys to me and said be back within the hour. I threw them back and said you have just lost the sale of a new car.
I have a Skoda Fabia and get lots of jibes about driving a Skoda, but it's the best car I have ever had.

when my redundancy money comes through in september, i shall be looking to trade for a smaller, newer, more economical car ----- and the corsa looks a likely candidate to me

Going on my post Meth, is my engine half decent?

Anne I agree to an extent. My car is used now for shopping. No trips out, no nothing.
any news re the carers behaviour ?

Don't worry about what others say about your car. You purchase a car to do a specific job. Do you worry if people make fun of the brand of your TV or which teaspoons you buy? Thought not. Unless your circumstances change, just buy a decent car that you can afford and keep it until the wheels drop off it.

Yes Anne, the nosey one.

Meth, the car is 6 years old.

Thanks Spikey.

Thanks for that Chris. I don't feel old, I don't think I act old. I'm 63 and brain wise I'm 25. Gaaaaaaaaawd does that mean dementia has set in without me noticing.
Who gives a stuff what other people think? If you like it, enjoy it, x
>>>I don't think I act old. I'm 63 and brain wise I'm 25

Well I'm 61 and I sincerely hope that I've NOT got the brain I had when I was 25!
(I like to think that I've learnt a thing or two since then!)

An excellent philosophy, Sherrardk, but I hope that doesn't mean that you're driving a Corsa; you'd have to put Thing 1 and Thing 2 on the roof rack!

;-)
Sadly I have little choice if car so drive a mobile crèche (Grand Voyager thing that is a git to park).
Surely it's no longer a crèche, Sherrardk, but (given that most of your little angels will have now reached the Cubs/Brownies/Scouts/Swimming/Karate/Dancing/Football stage) more of a taxi?
