Would This Irk You About A Friend, Or Is It Just Me ?

It has gone on for quite a while now and it's really starting to bug me. I will be in mid conversation with my friend and someone else will ring, its not an important call (I could understand if it was) just an out of the blue call.

It could be the girlfriend, another friend or family member and they will immediately say "I have got another call I will call you back" and hang up. They might call me back 10 to 20 minutes later or could be a few hours.

If I am on the phone to a friend and someone else rings me and its not important, I will wait until I finish the call, then I will ring the other person back.

Is it just me being pedantic or is he just being plain rude ?

Rude, unless it is an important call on the other line I would not hang up.

I think it's rude. Unfortunately, it's the way many people behave now. Next time, you could try saying. "I'll be busy soon. Can we wind up our chat now?"

Well how often do you speak? I can understand why he'd want to answer his girlfriend or the other people come to that. Maybe as his friend he'd expect you to understand?

I have to answer business calls on works phone, but never answer home or mobile, those callers can text or leave a message. If driving you shouldnt answer no matter how impotant !

ummmm, It depends if he has caller display on the other line, if he does he will know who is calling and whether it is likely to be important.

Yes...but most of my bad news has come via the phone.

I suppose mine has too, but they will always ring my mobile and not my landline.

I found out my mum had died in February via my brother putting R.I.P. to mum on his FB wall, didn't think to even PM us! Some people eh?!

Yeah...found out my grandad had died via facebook. I had loads of missed calls though, I just don't take my phone to bed.

I assumed Lostsouls had call waiting on her mobile. I don't have a landline.

depends what you are talking about - if its just a quick catch up chat about nothing in particular then surely you must see that life goes on and maybe those calls are important - how do you know theyre not?

what is wrong with the person calling you back a bit later?


i think many people place too many unwritten demands and rules on those around them and just expect everyone else to agree to them, abide by them and feel the same way - they dont, everyone is different and as his friend you should understand that his life does not just halt just because he is chatting to you.
