Crossword Help Needed Please!

Can anyone help with a clue I am stuck on please? I am stuck on the following clues:- 6 Letters: 'One of very high interest'. I think the 2nd letter is a G (?).

Possibly ... I may have the answer that connects wrong. It was 8 letters 'A passing reference' I believe the pattern is A-L---R- I thought it was Allegory (the g would be wrong for usurer)

For the future, it's helpful if you put the name of the actual crossword in the title (people who have done it can spot it more quickly then), and also, rather than dashes for the missing letters, use question marks - easier to read this end!
