Comic from the 60's

Not strictly Quizzes and Puzzles - but hthis has been puzzling me for ages -

In a comic, in the 60's there used to be a character who had lots of little men inside him, doing all his bodily functions. Can anyone remember the name, and the name of the comic?

I used to love the numbskulls, and yes it was the Topper. Did you ever see that American programme, Hermans Head? It was a real life version of the numbskulls! In the 80's I think.

Yes, Herman's head rings a bell!  But what was Brian's Brain all about?

The Numbskulls are still around. I think they're in the Beano.

I loved the Beano. It was better than the Dandy, and I loved it when the Summer Specials came out. Topper and Beezer  weren't as good, as I remember.

Do you remember Buster as well! It always had  a great summer special.I loved the stories about maxwell something,a ghost hunter,and he had an assistant called jill.

No, don't remember reading Buster, or Whizzer and Chips -

I also remember "Look and Learn" which was the only comic my mum didn't mind buying for me - I had to spend my own money (3d a day) on Beano's!

Thanks liquorice,maxwell hawke and jill adair,that was it! Yes my mother was always very keen to buy my sister and i look and learn too,more keen than we were to read it  though! I think there was also treasure wasn't there? It was educational too,but the best bit of it was mary norton's the borrowers.

I got Treasure, too, lindapinda. I remember liking the 'Mr Answers' page, to which readers wrote asking questions. The Treasure years were when I had grown out of Teddy Bear, and before I got into Jackie.

Hi clare,had completely forgotten about mr.answers! Must have been too busy thinking about the borrowers! Did you read mandy etc before you moved on to the dizzy heights of jackie? So innocent now,compared to what young girls are reading now!

I read Jackie too, I loved the drawings of the guys - weren't they all tall, lean and really good-looking! I remember reading some poem, went something like:

...."hair curling over his collar"

... something about, "everywhere he went

he knew that I would foller"

The first thing I looked at was the Problem Page.  And I always had the centre page pinned to my wall - I remember Paul Jones,  and Paul Rodgers out of Free (hasn't HE done well!)

Hi liquorice,yeh,all the boys were tall and gorgeous,and all the girls were thin and pretty! To be honest,i was never much into free,apart from "all right now",i was a david cassidy freak,but i hadn,t realised that it was paul rodgers with Queen now(had to google ,to see what you meant)big surprise! I loved the pin ups,was always hoping it was someone I liked,david cassidy,pete duel etc.I always found the problem page fascinating,you never knew what was going to be there that your mother wouldnt approve of! Just remembered,wasn't it called "dear cathy and clare"?

I hated it when they wasted the whole centre pages on people like Englebert Humberdinck, what a waste!

I liked David Cassidy as well, "Could it be forever" was one of my favourites. Did you watch The Partridge Family? I used to look forward to it. Can't remember much about it, though.

I'm trying to think of what the magazines were called, that had all the top 10 lyrics in. Something like Words and Music, or something. They were quite expensive, couldn't afford them every week.

Adored "The Partridge Family",but like you ,when I think back,I can't actually remember a single episode.Probably spent too much of the time ogling David Cassidy! Memory is now surfacing again,there was one episode that they did a song called Whale Song",and it had those lovely haunting whale cries.Don't remember that songbook at all though.The other magazine that I got was Fab208.Held onto copies for years afterwards too,until our wee dog wet over them!
