I think it's going to be Steve van Zandt or Bruce Springsteen. I've only just started the crossword, but I have an N, E and S so I know it isn't Tony Bennett!

Dt £500 compiler has had a bad day! Shaded letters spell SPRINGSTEEN [which should be the answer to 3 down]. 3 down is TRICOLOUR which should be what the shaded letters spell, but is the answer to 3d!!
