I'd rather the habit wasn't encouraged.
I agree OG
I'm not sure the Ads are worthwhile - it's not as if they are vying with Cigarette advertising which is long gone.
What's wrong with vaping?
The few TV ads I've seen make vaping look so cheesy that I'd be surprised if the 'teenagers' the protesters are usually so concerned about would be the least bit inclined to take up the habit....

I agree but there seems to be some evidence that smokers are giving up the fags, and changing over to these plastic things, which are less harmful apparently. They still look as daft as cigarettes though. When I first saw, I thought the woman had a fountain pen in her mouth !

Another aspect that worries me is that I am seeing a growing number of children and young adults using these things, and that concerns me. There has been a lot of good work done over the last 30-40 years, in educating people and I am afraid that adverts may undo all those efforts.

Mamy...my fear is that these new adverts will be encouraging smoking all over again. All adverts can be seen by young children and I am not sure its a positive message to be putting out. Also, I suppose it just a coincidence that you can buy Bubble Gum flavour liquids ?

When I was growing up in the 50's and 60s' cigarettes were advertised everywhere...I had a John Player Special model racing car, which was my favourite. The tobacco companies are behind some of these "vaping" products
and that worries me even more.
The one I saw made the product look daft, but then I think the ads with dec & ant are a waste of time.
"Also, I suppose it just a coincidence that you can buy Bubble Gum flavour liquids ?"

Are you suggesting they're deliberately marketed for children? If so that's a ridiculous statement!
Will it be run before the watershed?
Question Author
2sp...what difference would the watershed make ? Kids watch TV at all times of the day these days. Most of them seem to have one on thier bedrooms, in one form or another.

Boo...see this online shop for liquids....do you not think that many of them will appeal to kids ?

The whole point of advertising an tobacco product is to catch people young. The vast majority of smokers, and now vapers, will have started young. Not many people start when they an adult. Catch them young has always been the tobacco companies prefered method of making money.
I know the flavours out there Mikey- my own EJuice is currently Candyfloss flavour, but to infer it's marketed for children (which is what I think you're doing) is as daft as saying the flavoured booze you can get (I drank Toffee apple Sourz last weekend) is for children too.
You can also buy fruit flavoured condoms.

I hope they don't show the saucy version of the Ad before the watershed.

If you choose to believe that Boo, thats up to you. I am more realistic and cynical I suppose.
But apart from the nicotine-based liquids/juices, there is NO resemblence between smoking and vaping.....
*resemblance
"If you choose to believe that Boo, thats up to you. I am more realistic and cynical I suppose. "

lol, that's like saying "you and Mamya might be right with your examples given, but im gonna obstinately stick to my rigid viewpoint through hell or high water" ;-)
Vaping is designed to appeal to children and young adults because of the blingy, sparkly, colourful designs.
Why can't they be plain and functional looking?

vaping is nicotine

so it is chemically addictive

why would we allow advertising intended to turn people into addicts?
All business is profit led, you can get plain and functional or flash and blingy in all things can't you?

This has reminded me of the time my Mum had a spell on fruit flavoured cigs - they smelt and tasted vile (I know because I pinched one and only one)
