congratulations or thank you? If congrats - what are you congratulating him for

Yes sorry I was confusing the issue there but its a work thinkg and we need to both thank him for his contribution toward an amazing project and congratulate him for the result.
A thank you gift or a congratulations gift ?
a book token ?
Are buying the gift on your own or is it a kitty thing? What kind of money is being spent?
Is the person young? middle aged? older? If young, then maybe an Itune card. If older, a bottle of malt.?

Lets say £30 budget and something to present to him. But not flowers he'd be way too embarrassed. Sorry its not easy when you don't know them or the circumstances.

Just had a thought ... Maybe a savoury hamper?
Yes, maybe a hamper of nice cheeses and a good bottle of wine?
There are some super luxurious notebooks around these. I saw a leather bound one in a stationers last week, that I coveted !

How about a really nice fountain pen ? Fountain pens are coming back into fashion these days. Try this one from my favourite on-line retailer ::::

It comes in a nice black tin, and writes beautifully. Or perhaps this one ::

£ for £, this is probably one of the best fountain pens you can buy.
I have added one to my collection. Cultpens have a mail order service second to none...order this pen this morning and it will be with you in tomorrow mornings post.

Just part of my campaign to bring back the fountain pen !

Yepp, that should go down well...;-)
The cheeses are for our hero, Sqad. The wine is for the presentation party. :-)
Maybe one of those very large toblerone to go with the wine?

Any hobbies that you know of, Maydup?
I like Douglas's notebook/pen idea.

I've got a journal very much like this one...

And it really is lovely.
BOO...yes that looks really nice !

Ok, so he doesn't drink !! In that case just a hamper of lovely cheeses.
He doesn't like cheese....;-)^^^
^ ^ ^ does he like anything?
I think a really good quality pen is a fantastic idea -not something perhaps one would buy for ones self and it certainly 'says something' about a person when they pull out an expensive pen.
