Just had a weekend with my family and someone dug out an old quiz - but there are 2 that no-one could get Please can you help?

The answers are all trade names. ie Bray and Dibley - Vickers
Peggy Grant Phil (in one block) and then Hudson - Mitchell & Butler

The 2 we just cannot get are:
(2) The shape of a 5 barred gate but built out of the word connoissseur

(9) sagacious, discreet, worldly-wise

Thank you for your help

Thank you Svejk I would never have got that just left with 2

I'm not really happy with it, gran. Doesn't trip of the tongue like your examples. More of a 'bump' really.
There is an American company called Unicross which can be made out of some of the letters in connoisseur. A five-barred gate has just one diagonal cross strip.
(9) Prudential?

Thank you all for your help - Yes I like Prudential Calibax and Gate Gourmet although I've never heard of it it fits the clue

My dear late brother set the quiz a few years ago and his widow brought it to our gathering on Saturday to celebrate what would have been my dad's 100th birthday but she couldn't find the answers. It was a good evening nonetheless
