Sorry kosoro - I didn't look to see that it was just you that had replied! Guess the DT will have to take both answers!!
My Dictionary shows that we are both right it gives the same answer for both words..

Thanks to both of you.......now I'm totally confused.........not really but I think I'll try leat as it sounds more what they are looking for??

According to my Collins Concise, LEAT looks more likely.  It says "A channel conveying water to a mill", whereas LEAD can mean several other things as well.     I am plumping for LEAT.

Pretty sure it's LEAT.
