Were 'we'?
There will have to be many threads brought together and I suspect the Christmas holidays will have interfered with the due process.
There is a hint of what happened. I assume the hospital can't release details without permission.
There will be a lot more people involves than the hospital. SOCO, Dept of transport & associated police depts, HSE to name but three.

The senior police officer doing his report to camera did promise a swift investigation. I assume he knew the timing of the festive period.
And the Coroner's inquest.
Swift investigation maybe. That's different to announcing the results of said investigation.
If it was a medical condition of the driver's, it is his private affair. As has been said, it will probably come out at the inquest.

I don't think it's in the best taste to start a Web-based Inquest on the day of the Funerals.
///NHS Greater Glasgow Clyde said three people were still in hospital following the crash, including the 57-year-old driver of the bin lorry///
I don't know for sure but he may be too ill to interviewed, the decent thing would be to wait and see imho.
The swift investigation may be taking place, it doesn't mean that they have to make it public as to what caused it. If it's the driver's personal medical condition, that's all they have to say, not to give details.
what a pity the press feel the need to intrude on this sad family day :(
I think we can safely say it was a tragic accident caused by the driver suffering a serious medical incident. If we're wrong and it was either foul play or a faulty van, then we'll hear about it in good time.

Lets call our own closure and leave the families to grieve away from the media.

amphi - my thoughts have been very much with the poor driver since day 1.
As Amphi says, today is a really bad day to start querying when the results will be made public. For all we know, some of our ABers may have had family or friends involved in this situation.
Question Author
I don't consider it as 'a bad day'. Anything to keep it in the mind of what is, sometimes, a fickle public is no bad thing, imho.
Not having a go, just think the timing is bad, that's all!

You are entitled to your opinion, amphi, as I am mine.
Hal can you argue that it's naf all to do with the general public and also want them to remember the tragedy?
Some racist fascist who lives round the corner from us has taken great delight in posting a link on FB to (I think) a DM article that says the driver was a Muslim immigrant (and therefore the accident was the government's fault for 'letting them in'). That was the main point of the post, though, so until I hear any more I'm going to treat it - and the poster - with the contempt they deserve.
so you want them to rush the investigation? I really cannot see what you are asking here.
