My friend married an asian man, had an asian ceremony, but not a recognized marriage in this country. She was asked to leave the home they made together because he didn't love her anymore. She moved in with her mum temporarily until she could rent somewhere, then she found out she was pregnant, and remained at her mums with her child. Her ex partner, child's father is well off, is she entitled to anything from him for the child?. Where does she stand legally. She has spoken to a solicitor, but they don't seem to think she can gain anything from her ex. Any advice would be helpful.

either she accepts what the solicitor has said or get a second opinion,
If she is in the UK , look at the Child Support Agency website.
Religon has nothing to do with it,if he is the father he is due his responsibility of paying towards the upkeep of his child.
She might not be entitled to possessions but she's certainly entitled to maintenance.
She is entitled to child support from him, but no maintenence for herself.
As has been suggested, she should look at the Child Support Agency website for details of how to claim
