retired - walking group and walking with friends outside the group once a week, pub lunches after 2 of them, circuit training for over 55's once a week. Volunteering, clearing footpaths, putting in waymarkers and associated meetings. Couple of mornings a week with Mum in care Home. All this develops relationships so parties etc come out of it.
It's funny but when I was working I used to come home, walk Max get all my bits and pieces done and still seemed to have loads of spare time. Now especially since Trish finished we never have any spare time and we never seem to get on top of everything.
When I first retired, I started some voluntary work in a local shop - it was good, got me out to meet different people. I've gone back to work now, and even though it's part-time, I seem to spend a lot of spare time sleeping....

I'd recommend some sort of voluntary work - it keeps your interest up, and there are loads of different opportunities out there.
Housework, gardening, cinema, theatre, horse racing, coffee drinking and general pottering around town, walking on the seafront, museums and history.

Nothing very sociable I'm afraid! Far too self conscious, but then I amworking so maybe one day when I'm not, I might feel more inclined to clubs and groups.
When I was working I joined several local groups - amateur drama, history club, pubb quiz, etc. Anything for a change of scene after work!
Retired here too but don't have much spare time. Dog walking, line dancing, badminton, lunch with friends, visiting Dad, shopping, cleaning, cooking, knitting, tapestry, reading, chatting to friends on phone and face to face, falconry and last of all, AB. I am exhausted!
Must admit one of the reason we never seem to get o top of things is that we tend to spend a lot of time doing nothing but enjoying our-selfs if the weathers nice and we've nothing special to do we get in the car and go away for a couple of days and if any thing does need doing we know a man who can do it for us.
I'm fortunate enough to be....not working and I love it.

I thought I'd miss my work....but I have so many interests and retired friends to play with that I wouldn't want to go back to work.

I think pleasing myself about how to fill my time is the best part of retirement....holidays..hobbies....lunching and gossiping....and bird watching when it's quiet.....bliss......☺
I never have enough time..gardening..diy...cleaning..laundry..caring for parents, hospital runs and of course AB !

Not enough Tilly.
Got to much time on my hands but dont know how to use it. Sometimes feel I'm going brain dead.
I retired on 28 January this year so I managed to pick up quite a few tips from you all Thank you
nailit - try volunteering in a charity shop or go to the Salvation Army -they are non judgmental and will find you a job!
Sorry, what is 'spare time'?
I don't work due to health problems. I spend my day PC gaming, browsing the internet, knitting, cross stitching, crocheting and doing housework.

Thanks a fookin lot.
Nailit -try the Salvation Army -thats if you actually want to work which I very much doubt with that sort of attitude!
