Please can you tell me how to change my avatar

Log into the gravatar site (www.gravatar.com) which is where you set it, and the replace the picture

Save your picture to the desk top rather than copy the URL.

Thank you for your help I have been trying to do it since you all kindly posted I can't get a new picture on to the gravatar site. I've done it before but I need an idiot step by step guide.

The gravatar site tells me to 'Enter the URL of the image on the internet

To find the URL of an image on the internet, try right clicking it and selecting "properties". but this option doesn't come up

granny rather than copying the url directly wouldn't it be easier to save the picture to your own pc/laptop and then load that once you are in gravatar?

What you see when you right-click on an internet image depends upon which browser you're using. If it's Firefox you're looking for 'Copy Image Location' but I'm unsure as to whether Internet Explorer offers a similar option.

However, with Gravatar, it's usually simpler to copy the web image to your hard drive. (Right-click and select 'Save Image As', or similar). Then upload that image to Gravatar.

Ive got an image but then I get this message Please upload an image in one of the supported formats (a jpeg, gif, png, bmp, or svg file) It might as well be in double Dutch

The image will be in one of those formats. Just upload it :)

Granny - save the picture you want to use into your Pictures folder. When gravatar prompts you, browse your pictures until you find the right one, click on it and the link to the pic should then appear in the Browse box. Then follow the instructions. Do remember to "check this image" once the pic is uploaded, then you should be fine. It can take a few minutes for the new pic to show on this site.

Almost there and I have just got a message from Gravater to say that they have a problem and will get back to me - hopefully it will be sorted - Thank you all for your help. Must get off to bed now before GranddadG starts shouting - question time is due on and he does get get quite involved ha ha
