Help please with my last one.
13a: "Total for one is about fifty (4)"
I have ?L?Y
I can see the "L" for fifty, but can't make out what the other letters should be. I think the answer is probably ALLY because ALL = total, but then where does the Y come from? I can think of lots of other words which would fit but none of them seem to make sense. PLOY, CLAY, PLAY, SLAY, FLAY.

S L ay - total is a slang term for kill

Thanks. That's was very fast. I would never in a million years have known that. First time I've heard slay used with that meaning.

Sorry, mistype. What I meant to say was that I had never heard "total" used to mean slay/kill.
Neither had I until today...it is in Chambers :)
