Thanks for that.  I did think of that word, along with several others, but couldn't see how it related to the clue. I know that "spurge" is a type of plant, which would cover the "growth" part of the clue, but where does the "having no children" part come into it?

Thanks so much.  I've forgotten my latin - it's "sine prole" isn't it?  I really should have known that.  All that's left now is the "princely title from Spain found in the western part of America" which has now become "A?E?U".  Any ideas please?
