......hiding from the baking sunshine I've been listening to a play in which an elderly lady is going through a box full of love letters from her late husband.

I've only ever received one love letter......from a chap named Paul, I think....and that one I didn't think to keep......

Are you, like me, love letterless......or do you have some you treasure?...x

Noooo! You mustn't.......x
You still in the Algarve, enjoying the sun and sangria ? xx
Baking Sunshine.......where are you Gness lol lol
Question Author
....and the birds......shortened break this year but lovely all the same.....x
My hubby leaves little love notes in my bag, my purse and various places in the home for me to find. I have kept most of them.

Birding in the Algarve, Sammy.......spoke to someone at home this morning and the weather's awful......soooo tempted to just stay on here...... :-)
When I moved house recently, I found a tidy little bundle of airmail letters - from 1971 ...

... lovely letters from a new girlfriend who I had met just a few weeks before setting off for a long summer working in Germany.

The relationship didn't survive many weeks after I got back to Birmingham - the reality didn't match up to what we had concocted by post I think.

Still nice to have though - and if Dianne G. is reading this .... "How are you, I hope you've had a good life?"

That's lovely, Sharon.....I guess the way we communicate with ease these days will mean fewer love letters...x

Airmail letters.....tiny writing on flimsy, blue paper.....and we expect to be updated, Dave..... ;-)
My husband has kept all the love letters I have sent him!! I have dumped all the ones he ever sent me!!
Technically you didn't need airmail letters to go to Germany - I think she just thought it added to the sense of occasion (and kept the foreigners in their place) ...

Oh, Islay!....Really?!....:-)
Question Author
Well I think it's lovely you've kept them, Dave....be nice if she got in touch with you....x
Lol we were 17!! it was all lusty and new love and teenage love shudder!!!

I really did shudder when I read what I had written to him - I would have dumped his stash but the *** has put them up too high for me to get them!!
I've kept most of lordalex's letters to me. Needless to say, he has dumped all of mine to him, probably on the day he got them.

I don't expect anyone writes letters now that there's texting and email....strange to think that when lordalex and I were apart for a year, he didn't even have a telephone and had to find a phone box to ring me ...and oh the excitement of a letter plopping onto the mat!

Question Author
You must let him keep them, Islay......the when he's very old and being cared for he can get the nurses to read them to him......for fun...and the memories......x
Question Author
I guess the love letter has died now, Ladya.....love emails don't have the same feeling of romance about them....x

Mrs B. tells me I don't have a romantic bone in my body,
so, what do you think?

(to qualify that, we've been together for over 30 years, so it can't be all that bad)
Question Author
I challenge you, Baldric......and I believe a Royal Marine always accepts a challenge.......
Next time Mrs B is away for a few days....surprise her....hide a love letter in her bag...unless you think the shock would be too much...... :-)
