......hiding from the baking sunshine I've been listening to a play in which an elderly lady is going through a box full of love letters from her late husband.
I've only ever received one love letter......from a chap named Paul, I think....and that one I didn't think to keep......
Are you, like me, love letterless......or do you have some you treasure?...x
Technically you didn't need airmail letters to go to Germany - I think she just thought it added to the sense of occasion (and kept the foreigners in their place) ...
I've kept most of lordalex's letters to me. Needless to say, he has dumped all of mine to him, probably on the day he got them.
I don't expect anyone writes letters now that there's texting and email....strange to think that when lordalex and I were apart for a year, he didn't even have a telephone and had to find a phone box to ring me ...and oh the excitement of a letter plopping onto the mat!
You must let him keep them, Islay......the when he's very old and being cared for he can get the nurses to read them to him......for fun...and the memories......x
I challenge you, Baldric......and I believe a Royal Marine always accepts a challenge.......
Next time Mrs B is away for a few days....surprise her....hide a love letter in her bag...unless you think the shock would be too much...... :-)
