I was thinking street name plates but it doesn't sound very plausible.

I am pretty sure it is no zebra crossings the reason is park lane is a three laned carriageway and oxford st is notorius for accidents because of no crossings same as fleet st i cant answer for the others but if you use oogle maps you can walk down those streets

Very interesting. I live in sheltered accommodation with flats numbered 1 - 30, but there are only 29 flats as after 12 comes 14.
