credit where credit is due

we all give reference to search engines such as google and encarta, in our search for knowledge (answers). have you ever considered the fact that someone had to enter all this information originally, for it to be available for us?

Somebody had to do it and got paid in the process.The internet is a wonderful thing for one's thirst for knowledge.

It certainly is a wonderful thing.  And not everyone does it for the money.  There are lots of websites which are produced by people just for the love of it, or the fun of it.  And although there is quite a lot of rubbish out there, you can also find some real gems.  I just can't imagine life without Google - one way or another I use it every day, for work or leisure.  And I am also a great fan of OneLook, which brings together in one search dozens of different dictionaries (some of them really obscure) and other reference works.

avis50, I dont know if you are aware of a site called ONEACROSS, but it is a great help for clue and anagram solving. It is the only site where you can input the whole of the clue and get rated answers.Some of the answers can be quite bizarre, but in the main, it is very good.I also find CHAMBERS ONLINE REFERENCE very good as well.

 I agree  with others choice's I have done crosswords from one look as directs you to other sites  two others worth a mention that bring up words with letter imput I've found good and reliable are   1. Crossword cheats.

2.EKELUNDH. COM   imput letters you have and is good.

3. also very good the AB team for this site and all their work behind the scenes and E mails etc. and for all the AB users whom I've found very helpful  with answers has only just started attempting cryptics and for suggestions of papers with puzzles  Fergol mentioned the Daily Record and this week on sat I got a copy so has its been said credit indeed to everyone who for all they do to supply a great web.   THANKS....
