Graffiti is wrong anyway.
I assume the letter was to the head.
When was the last time you were in a primary school? Loads of them have wall art. Banksy's work isn't like tagging a railway bridge!
I would agree - graffiti on public buildings, or on unauthorised private buildings is something of a different issue.

I am mystified as to why 'Banksy' is such a popular artist, but then I put that down to my lack of knowledge and appreciation of art.
I'd think the children love it !!!!!!!!!
Well I thought the image of a burning tyre might not have been in the best taste. We don't want the kiddies thinking oh I could do that with a tyre !
I bet the kids love it.
In my opinion all graffiti is vandalism, and should not be encouraged!
Well that great Black Icon's wife Winnie showed the kids what a burning tyre could be used for and people worshipped them !
Just because 'loads' of primary schools have wall art doesn't make it right. All the schools I worked in had work on the wall, but it was all properly mounted and displayed.
I'm not a big fan of it either.
When I was at school, smoney, the outside walls weren't decorated. Nowadays they are...
The School have a great fondness for him and had been in touch with him , this was his thank you.

The pupils and the Head are equally thrilled.

I think you either 'get' Banksy (and other similar artists) or you don't.
the idea is nice, but I don't like or get the picture he left .
Whether you "get" Banksy or not, paintings should be hung on the wall not defacing them.
// ll that great Black Icon's wife Winnie showed the kids what a burning tyre could be used for and people worshipped them !//

soweto necklace I think - soaked in petrol and then lit - the victim always suffocated slowly - especially to police informers and people WInnie didnt like

no be fair retro - the Mother of the Nation is worshipped no more

and the Mandela family has a huge claim on the public tax payer
even the grandchildren ( all of them ) hold their hands out for freebies
and the tax payer knows it - there is even a young firebrand going around saying they arent 'worf it' - in xhosa I fink

winnie had very little public teevee time on the last Mandela outing - 15th anniversary of release? tenth anniversary of death ? birth of 92nd grandchild ? I know because I pleaded with the Beeb to show more of Mother of the Nation and Stompje's killer making a complete a-r-s-e of herself
AH - I am mystified as to why 'Banksy' is such a popular artist, but then I put that down to my lack of knowledge and appreciation of art.

I think your mystification as to Banksy's popularity isn't because you have a lack of appreciation of art per se but more why his work is so revered?

You may see something in Tracey Emin's form of art that Banksy's followers don't!

You make your bed and lie in it! o:))
Trust me kids will copy it! Hope their parents have marker/crayon/paint remover on standby.
