I recently bought a book of the telegraphs crosswords so it is an old one. 22a, The clue is; presiding bishop of the Scottish Episcopal Church;also the brand name of a type of portable stove (6) and I have -r-m-s. Thank you in advance I have trawled Google and can't find an answer that works.
The reason I know the answer si that I walked past the Primus's house once....in Edinburgh I think , many many years ago. It had his title on the gatepost and I was so tickled by someone being called the Primus, that I have always remembered it.
I expect it is from Primis inter pares in some way.
Thanks Mac.
I expect you are right.....they don't go much for equals in the Episcopal Church, do they, with all those bishops and archbishops and such......
