It was very much my era too - I think we follow this thread as it is unusual to see Warden begin a thread while A Hearer is the first past the post so often. Lovely endgame, thank you Nudd.
Some wonderful clues, perhaps on the easy side, but never ever boring. Delightful endgame, very much my time, but not my style. Thanks Nudd for a nostalgic trip.
Nice and gentle after last week's mental workout. This was a very clever piece of grid construction and the clues were fun and scrupulously fair. A lucky guess gave me the theme very early on.
I'll probably get flamed for saying this but I'll be honest - I can't stand the theme's subject. All the same I enjoyed the puzzle; thanks Nudd.
I had finished before the thread was started but (a) I vaguely feel that only more worthy people should start a thread and (b) I don't know how to start a thread anyway. Really good fun, lots of easy clues - a relief after last week where I crawled over the line on Tuesday having given up three times along the way. I had spotted fyellin's slight niggle, which as (s)he says, is quite clear. Anyway, thanks to Nudd, I enjoyed this one.
A nice gentle one for a change, which suits me fine. Although brought up with the thematic material, I'll readily confess to never having heard of the central two works. Neat construction and the endgame is unambiguous and close enough to the theme for me. Thanks Nudd.
fyellin: If you are referring to the 'XXX of YYYYY' then YYYYY is the name of the XXX and not a descriptor; so the grid-shading instruction is not inconsistent. If you Google the full name of the work, any image you find will confirm Nudd's construction.
@TheBear69: Interesting. You are right that many images show Nudd's construction, but other images show various colors.
I don't see why you think that this is a name. All printed versions that I've seen are clearly "xxx of yyyyy" and not "Xxx of Yyyyy".
In any case, don't take this too seriously. Just proving that sometimes my brain is too filled with useless trivia. And now I have an ear worm I can't get rid of.
