Am trying to finish a local quiz from Wells Next the Sea.
Halfway up Staithe Street is a building with The Pet Store on the ground floor. The building was built for F E Smith a prominent Wells merchant and ship owner who had a lantern tower added to the roof. What did he use the tower for?

If he was a ship owner I would assume to hold a lantern for guiding his ships into harbour, is there a light house nearby to Wells?
