I'm all out of ideas this morning so I hope you folks can help.

I've made a 140cm long shelf to attach under the window in my wooden shed. The shelf is to be used solely to overwinter a dozen or so pots containing garden bulbs. The shelf is only 11.5cm wide as a consequence. It's simple in construction and consists of two softwood laths about 50mm x 12mm joined by cross pieces on the underside and has a gap between the laths.

I need some brackets to attach this to the shed wall. I don't want to buy brackets ("London Pattern") and besides, I cant find anything to fit a shelf only 11.5cm wide. I've thought of metal angle brackets, but I don't think they'll take the weight unless I put quite a few under the shelf.

I think I should be able to knock something up from softwood timber, but I'm out of ideas right now.

Thanks

Two lengths of wire, 4 eyelets. 2 eyelets on front of shelf (near each end), 2 on wood of shed to coincide, so that wire can be "triangular" support. Perhaps a couple of angle brackets under shelf just to reinforce. I haven't explained that very well.
Just use a piece of ply
Screw a soft wood batten across the shed uprights aprox 250mm below the shelf. Then get three or four short lengths of batten .. fix them from the new batten up to the underside of the shelf after cutting the correct angle on them... cheap and simple ?
I know you say you don't want to buy anything...but I'd be using these which are 10.3 x 10.3 cm and, according to reviewers, are really strong.

They will be fine so long as nothing is put on the shelf.
^^^....obviously an expert...
The op gave the clues .. a dozen or so pots for storing bulbs over winter. You have got to assume that these will be contain soil as well as bulbs. 1400m long . Dont use corner brackets as they are meant for bracing corners, not supporting shelves that are stacked with pots full of soil. If you do you had better get one of these.

Well, a dozen terracotta pots full of wet soil WILL be weighty....but a dozen plastic pots with dry bulb fibre/potting compost won't be. So, I'll stick with my idea...though I would use more than one of them at either end!

Thank you all. I should have made clear that the pots range in size from four to seven inches and are bog-standard terracotta coloured plastic pots. The compost is peat-based rather than soil and is quite dry. They contain lily bulbs, some of which have been divided which is why some pots are larger than others.
