Can the semicolon be replace by a colon in the following sentence? The beach is not the place to work; to read, write or think.

The semicolon can also be used as a divider between items in a list of clauses, eg 'We must do several things today: check the oil on the cars; drive over and pick up George from the station; hang out the washing; and creosote the new fence.'
