Rare Pink Diamond Sold For £57M

A rare pink diamond dubbed the “Pink Star” has become the world's most expensive gemstone to sell at auction, coming under the hammer in Hong Kong on Tuesday for $71.2m (£57.3m).

Ohhh ..... just beautiful! I love diamonds - and that is a diamond!!

No I must confess I could spend that amount of money on far worthier things, I'm not actually very materialistic by and large, gorgeous though it is.

I don't like diamonds to be any colour but white. Not black, yellow, pink etc.

Tilly I was about to say. How you anyone do a closeup photo of a stunning jewel like that and use hands that are at least a week past their nail bar date. Awful.

That's not a close up photo - that's macro. You can even see the fingerprints. A macro photo like that would show every imperfection that you wouldn't see from a close up

Oh dear did I use the wrong technical term. That split at the end and regrowth on the middle finger would be plainly obvious to the naked eye.

Nope Mammy. I didn't get a diamond. But it is as a nice evening. Daughter and family have given us a promise of a weekend away all together. GC made me lovely framed painting to hang on the wall. And lots of love.
