Has anyone ever completed the sudoku in the News ot the World? I've tried for the last 3 weeks unsuccessfully, so has my partner and mother. We're beginning to think they are impossible!!!!

I think I'm getting better as I finished the last two although I did abandon some of the earlier ones. Try using different strategies, e.g. Row 1 - 9, then Columns 1 - 9. If you manage to fill any gaps then it's important to repeat this process - reason being that when a cell is filled it reduces the number of alternatives next time round. Chances are that you'll complete one or two more cells, if not then try a different strategy, e.g. panel by panel, starting with the 'busiest'. Let us know how you get on next week! Good Luck, ja
Hi Carriewass - You are quite correct about N.O.W. answers not being printed. I had a good search yesterday (last week's I had binned) but drew a blank. Apologies for my earlier statement which was incorrect, although they do print the winner's name. If you haven't finished yesterday's N.O.W. then let me know how far you've got and I will give you the solution.
Hi carriewass
My daughter & i normally finish this quiz each week if we get gridlocked we usually draw the quiz on a spare bit of paper and in one of the grids where there is a possible 2 squares for one number we enter the number in one of them and try and work it out from there if it does'nt work out we put the number in the other square hope this helps out
This weeks numbers 23/10/05 on the top & second rows are as follows 9 8 1 / 3 2 6 / 5 7 4
3 5 7 / 1 8 4 / 6 2 9
Hope you work this one out from these numbers
