I found a 9 letter word which I think is correct.  The first four letters is a word which means to knock out.  The rest of the word is what they are - in other words what the question marks are on!

Would appreciate a clue to 100 please!

Q4 Localgirl. I think your correct in your answer. The confusion for some people may be that the answer you describe is a version of a 8, 4 answer which is also valid. Like most nautical terms the 8 letter word is shortened to be pronounced as your 4 letter "knock out" word. Hope that clears up confusion some people may have had.
