The king of a desert kingdom dies without an heir and the royal family are in turmoil. The wise old man of the tribe decides that they will have a camel race to pick the new king. They will race around the pyramid and back. Because it is such an important issue,to make it interesting the owner of the LAST camel will be king! Of course no one moved until the wise man whispered something to them. Then they raced. What did he say?

Walk backwards?
Question Author
Even if they went backwards, someone would still be first.
Psst ..... Swap camels !
Question Author
Well done Fibonacci. The 'owner' is the clue!
I don't understand why swapping camels would be advantageous? Surely they are all riding their own camels?
How many were in the race?
If you and were the only two competitors Tilly we would swap camels so would ride yours (tillyhump) and you'd ride mine (FactorHump). I'd go as fast as I could wanting to beat you so that FactorHump comes second and I become King. you'd do the same. We can't be sure we will win but there will be a result, whereas if we didn't swap we'd both just stay on teh start line and no-one would ever win

Got it now. If there were two of them and they raced each other's camels, they would ride really, really fast on someone else's camel. Yes, I've got it now.
Thanks, Factor, you explained it so much better than I did. :-)
but.........'the wise man whispered something to them. Then they raced.'

It doesn't say anything about them completing 'another action' before they raced, does it?
Not exactly worded by Mexican then; 'no one' moved should have read 'neither owner' moved
Question Author
The question says the owner of the last camel, which means that if you win ,your camel has a better chance of being last.
