Haha final correction 11/64 is the answer. Common denominator problem this morning.

thank you
must admit i strugled myself , hence me asking the question
next one
what is 5/16 - 11/64
9/64
4X 5/16 = 20/64 - 11/64 = 9/64
9/64 it is. I spent 16 hours yesterday in a polling station and am number blind and exhausted this morning. Never cross referenced so many numbers in my life. Haha.

togo, my mum did the counting of the votes last night
not sure what time that went on until

ps those fraction questions were all to do with what keyway we need for an american spec key in a 1.3/8 dia shaft
Interesting Kop. The Americans love the old imperial system...as do I. It did cause a space rocket malfunction though I seem to remember. A joint American/European venture went pear shaped when the Americans were using imperial measure and the Europeans metric. Cut you mum some slack today, she will be tired out and wired at the same time if she feels anything like me. I was out of the house at 6.20am and stepped back in at 10.45pm with no break or time out. Food and drink on the go and no outside contact. Then couldn't sleep for numbers going through my head all night.

rocket malfunction eh
sounds serious
were not talking a manned rocket here are we
p.s will give mum some slack
i know last time she did it . they do do three re counts
and she didnt get home until about 6 am
Haha not manned Kop. I seem to remember miles off course because the Americans used miles and yards and the French(I think) used Km and metres. Loads of dosh burned up though. Good idea to not cause an angry mum, if my memory serves me right. Lol.
Is your first one meant to be (1.3)/8 - (1.13)/64?
If so then that is 10.4/64 - 1.13/64
which is 9.27/64
Here you go Kop. Beware the conversions between the two systems.

Prudie I am sure it was One and three eighths minus one and thirteen sixty fourths. Like being back at school when you say it out loud.
I am with Prudie, not clear that these are fractions perhaps a space where the dot is would make it clearer.

1&3/8 minus 1&13/64

Think I would have typed it up like that to save confusion caused by keyboard limitations. I am sure there is a way to use a keyboard to do maths equations and the like.
That would make more sense if that was what kopend meant. It's confusing to use a full stop which always means a decimal point in maths. You can write fractions in the normal appearance but think you need a numerical pad on a laptop or some other whizzy way.
