Apologies if this has been brought up before but I wonder if a "like" button could be incorporated in the site. I think it's often impossible to pick a best answer when there can be many good replies.

It's a good idea in theory but it'll just end up a popularity contest. Friends liking each others answers even if they are rubbish.

I usually give my Best Answer totheperson with the lowest count - its the fairest way.

I don't want a Like option.

I mean one best answer and as many "likes" as you feel appropriate. I don't really understand how it can be abused, but then perhaps I'm somewhat naive.

I agree with you Jason,

Just a simple, green arrow pointing up, for like, and a red arrow pointing down for dislike.

Mind you, it might be a bit complicated for the Ivory Towers staff!

Thanks for replies, I take all your points. It's a pity it appears it would only bring out the worst in some people. Personally I like to give (and receive)praise where it's due.

The idea doesn't do much for me , I prefer to tell people I've enjoyed their input and equally if I haven't I'd rather be open than wave a red arrow or a thumbs down at them.
