Two Essex girls were waiting at a bus stop when a foreign gentleman pulled up in his car and asked ‘Excusez-moi, parlez-vous Francais?’
The two Essex girls just stared at him. He tried again, ‘Parlare Italiano?, the two girls continued to stare.
‘Entschuldigung, koennen Sie Deutsch sprechen?’ asked the man; again with no response from the girls.
He tried one last time, ‘Hablan ustedes Espanol?’ with no response from the girls, the man drove off in disgust.

At this, one of the Essex girls said to the other, ‘Y’know, maybe we should learn a foreign language.’

‘Why?’ said the other. ‘That guy could speak four languages, and it didn’t do him any good.
