....in our little Co-op car park......it's tiny and awkward and there only were two spaces left except...
The nice man had reversed over the two spaces.....

I smiled and waved my hand a little suggesting he could move a bit so I could park...he ignored me.....
So I popped out of my car, tapped his window and repeated my request....very nicely.....I never do shouty and sweary...hate it in others....

He opened his door and said:
I'm not moving because I can't park properly....this is the best I can do.....somebody has taken the space I like to park in.....

I'll guide you....I said....there's room either side of your car....you'll be fine....

My wife's shopping....I'm not moving till she comes back.....I'm quite happy here....so you can wait too or go somewhere else....

There is nowhere else...I said....

Then you can just wait......I don't like your attitude....it's pouring with rain so I'm closing my door....

I really had no attitude......but don't some old folk get the rest of us a bad and grumpy name?...........

The thing I think that did bug me was that he was smirking.....he had control of the situation and that made him happy........

Tin cans on his bumper next time I see his car parked maybe.... ;-)

How infuriating!
Gness, will you stop going around upsetting people! You're such a nice person. What's the matter with you? :-)
I would have been tempted to say, well I am parking here, so if I prank your car it will be your fault.
*prang*
Grumpy old fart, I'm sure he uses AB.
I genuinely met a lovely man today. He was absolutely charming.
You found a male who actually admitted that he couldn't park a car. You did record this confession I hope.

What did you actually do, Gness? Did you wait or did you go elsewhere?

I parked elsewhere in an awkward spot that meant lots of turning and reversing.....but, unlike nice man, I can drive, reverse and park....
I could have parked and blocked him in but that would have blocked another car in which would have been unfair...
Mind you, there weren't as many shoppers in the Co-op as there were cars parked!

I'd let Dave out at the wider entrance before I headed for what I thought was the last parking spot in the narrower bit...he held back because he's big with a deep voice and a bit scary.......he figured little smiley me on my own would get the man to move over just a little....but.....bliss!!

I have just found a facebook group called "Parking like a muppet in Rothwell"

I don't do facebook but Dave will be posting the picture he took of the nice man on their page...... :-)
Mmm old devil, I do wonder if his attitude would have been different if ' you' had been male ?
Question Author
Anne, I did wonder what he'd have done if Dave had confronted him....but that would have perhaps become confrontational.....and Dave knows I wouldn't like that....

I just stayed calm by the car trying to find out why he wouldn't move just a foot or two for me with my help...and as I say...he seemed to really like the control and power he had...it was an interesting interlude.....x
Gness...I meet pillocks like this every day. I especially hate those that park in the disabled places, without being entitled.

A couple of years ago, I saw a woman park her BMW in a disabled place in my Co-op. I knew her slightly, as she told me that that she was a Virgin Air Stewardess on a previous visit.

When I was ready at the checkout, she was behind me, and I offered my place to the disabled lady behind me !

She haughtily said that she wasn't disabled, so I asked her why she had parked in the disabled spot then ?

I see her occasionally but she never parks in the disabled spots now !
iv been in a similar situation, lady driver a car full of kids bawling, i said..mam if you like i will park your car correctly, she looked at me...are you insane, i said very nicely..im sincere, you can take your children out of the car first, i am not a thief, wearing a suit may have helped, but she gave me the keys, i correctly parked her car and she was grateful.
i actually thought that romance was in the air when i read the post's title ...

Were you in Hearn Bay Gness??? lol lol
funny having been tinkering with cars and motorbikes all my life
once outside a pub, a biker ? could not start his harley davidson old knuckle head rare and a nice machine, fellow forgot to turn on the petrol lever.......
Question Author
That's really annoying, Mikey.......I did once block a chap in at a motorway service station....
He'd parked in the only disabled parking space left and skipped inside "just for a few seconds to use the loo" as I was driving behind him....so I stopped...
I had to get MrG out of the car and into the wheelchair so rude man's few seconds took an awful lot longer till I'd sorted MrG..got him to a safe spot and moved my car so rude man and empty bladder could drive away........ :-)
Well done Gness....I would have done the same !
Question Author
Nah...he wasn't fanciable, Ael......and I need a man who can drive and park better than I can...and they're rare!... ;-)

No, TWR......near home so we will probably bump into each other again...and it will be his fault... :-)

Odd isn't it, Fender......we came face to face with a car on a narrow lane...my daughter had to get out and reverse the other woman's car to a wide spot as she couldn't reverse...scary isn't it?....x
