Jump on the band wagon or not? With this flurry of allegations of sexual assaults... I have seen and heard people now saying that they are just just jumping on the bandwagon. If these people were assaulted, I think they should come forward and report it, no matter how long ago it happened. I think they are mostly true claims! I think that when people start realising that they cannot get away with touching people inappropriately it will stop or at least be severely curbed. I think more people are now coming forward because they feel that they will now be believed and supported. and it wont be swept under the carpet. I think its a good thing! or course there will be the odd one that is hoping to get rich quick, they will always be there and always have been. I do however think that there needs to be more evidence of wrongdoing before people are named and shamed and their lives and careers ruined.

On what are you basing that? You weren't there. These allegations have nothing to do with you nor, I suspect, with anyone you know.

Dave "On what are you basing that?" Its a guess, im guessing that most of these people aren't so stupid as to make false allegation, but obviously some will.
I am entitled to ask the question and I am entitled to have my own opinion. Like it or not!! if you dont like it dont respond!

BHG "No, they should have reported it at the time." possibly, but until operation YewTree they most likely would never have been believed, look at all the people that were silenced at the BBC because no one would take on Jimmy Savile and the likes!! Now they feel they will be believed and supported!

A woman has a breast touched/felt/cupped, feels angry, doesn't say anything at the time, maybe a bit shocked - 'did that actually happen?!'

He then goes on and does similar or worse to another woman, and maybe a few more and then thinks he's got a licence to carry on with that behaviour.
I don't see it as a 'band-wagon' I see the whole situation as people have become fed up with being touched/talked to/texted in highly inappropriate ways and by speaking out, the perpetrators of such deeds should be very, very, ashamed.

Im amazed you have such little understanding of the situation involving a sexual assault!! do you really think that every woman that has been raped, violated or abused by a man has the courage to then physically attack him? I think you need to get a grip on reality!

I agree for some it would be, but not by all, especially when it is done in private, where a woman may feel vulnerable or frightened.

Ratter - yes, I agree if it's very private as it might lead to force being applied but if there are other people within earshot, even in another room, it ought to stop the situation escalating.

Interesting that all the claims are being made by women yet in the workplace I recall women being as 'jovially tactile', a pinch on the backside etc. as men yet where are the men's allegations? Do we not need to differentiate between sexual assault and knee touching or are the two considered to be the same now, as long as women say so?

Men are as welcome to complain about it as women are. At least in theory. If they don't then, well, they should still be encouraged to speak up about it if possible.

What's somewhat sad is that the argument of "men suffer it too" often seems to be raised only to make the further point of "so women, get used to this crap and put up, because that's what we do".
